Just One More Sleep To Splitmas

It’s August. Seriously, where has this year gone? I don’t mind though, because it means we’re right in the heart of festival season, and I LOVE festival season. I’ve just got back from working at Kendal Calling, and now it’s only a few sleeps til Split Festival!

I’m so excited to work the festival again; I really missed not having Split around last year. Back in 2012 I was helping the film crew sort sessions with the bands at the festival, and that’s what I’ll be doing again this year! My main mission is to get The Cribs to do an acoustic version of ‘We Share The Same Skies’, and let me play tambourine. Will it happen? I don’t know. WATCH THIS SPACE!

I’ll also be working on the Bridges stage, which is in the bandstand at Mowbray Park. This stage is essentially an open mic stage, welcoming buskers from around the festival! So if you’re a singer, or in a band, and fancy doing a few songs to show the people of Sunderland what you’ve got, then come along! Or if you’ve just played the festival, and fancy playing AGAIN, you’re welcome to come along too. It’s going to be mint!

It’s mega exciting that Dizzee and The Cribs are going to be playing at Split this year, but what’s even more exciting, is that there’s a whole host of local artists playing over the weekend. We’ve got amazing talent in the North East, so it’ll be great to see a lot of them up there on all 3 stages. I’m particularly excited about Schultz, Kobadelta, Goy Boy McIlroy, Cohesion, and Boy Jumps Ship!

So yeah, make sure you’ve got your outfits sorted, and your dancing shoes on, because Split 2014 is going to be the best year yet. See you in the park!
